PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image output device by which printing speed can be enhanced by enabling high speed feeding control of recording paper in band unit in areas where there is no printing image in an engine side. SOLUTION: In the paper feeding control method, when detecting an area where there is no printing image in the paper feeding direction prior to printing to the recording paper (steps S205 to S207), the printing is not carried out and only the paper feeding is carried out (step S211), when setting printing image areas to a plurality of bands while making the image areas constituted of one or more lines as one band (step S201), receiving digital image data, and detecting the presence and absence of the printing image data in the band unit, the threshold value for detecting the presence or absence of the printing image data is set (step S201), the presence or absence of the data required for printing the image is determined according the threshold value (steps S202 to S208), only the paper feeding is carried out and the printing image data is skipped if there is no data required for printing image in the band, that is, there is no data to be printed.
