<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic imaging apparatus capable of suppressing consumption of electric power in a pulsar which generates electric signals to drive a piezoelectric element. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A resistor R7, a diode D7 and a transistor Q7 connected in series between an output line 1 of a multi-level pulsar 33 and a grounding terminal, and a resistor R8, a diode D8 and a transistor Q8 are connected parallel with each other. The transistors Q7 and Q8 are turned on in a step 3 and in a step 7 to eliminate steadily consumed electric currents and to discharge the electric charge charged in the piezoelectric element 11 at high speed. With this structure, the power consumption can be reduced, and as a result, heat generation of the multi-level pulsar 33 can be reduced. Ž<P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT Ž
