<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain the occurrence of wrinkles of paper conveyed by a rotor driven in rotation and an endless belt driven by the rotor, and to reduce abrasion at a contact part of the endless belt contacting the end of the paper. Ž<P>SOLUTION: When the endless belt 62 and the paper K are introduced into a nip area with the paper K superposed on the endless belt 62, tension to stretch the paper K to both end sides is applied by the pressure of the nip area, and a cut part 62C of a base material layer 62B of the endless belt 62 is opened to stretch the endless belt 62 in the direction of rotation axis by the tension in the width direction from the central part of the endless belt 62 toward both ends. Thus, slipping between the side edge of the paper K and the surface of the endless belt 62 is decreased as compared with the endless belt 62 having no cut part 62C. The occurrence of wrinkles of the paper K conveyed by this type of belt is restrained, and abrasion at a contact part of the endless belt 62 contacting the edge of the paper K can be reduced.
