This monitoring device UPnP (DMC) comprises: - means (34) for receiving (G10) a first command (PC) for updating a list (SCL) of criteria for searching the multimedia content (MC) accessible via a service provider (SP) referenced by a content server UPnP (DMS); and - means (36) for despatching (G20) a second command (UB), to said UPnP content server (DMS), so as to obtain a descriptor (CT) of services offered by said service provider (SP), said descriptor (CT) comprising a list of current criteria for searching for multimedia content (MC) accessible via said service provider (SP).
