<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-based active radiation-curable ink composition curing at high sensitivity even when exposed to a low level radiation, forming an image of high quality, having high storage stability, and causing no nozzle clogging at the time of ejection even when used as inkjet recording ink, and to provide an inkjet recording method using the ink composition. <P>SOLUTION: This ink composition comprises (A) a sensitizing dye represented by general formula (I), (B) a polymerization initiator, (C) a polymerizable compound having an ethylenically unsaturated bond, and (D) water, wherein the (C) polymerizable compound is present in an emulsion state in the ink composition.
