<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for an internal combustion engine capable of restricting an outbreak of knocking by appropriately cooling the inside of a combustion chamber by injecting fuel. <P>SOLUTION: This control device for internal combustion engine is provided with: an injector 43 capable of injecting fuel into a combustion chamber 18; a high-pressure fuel pump 46 capable of changing the injection pressure of fuel to be injected from the injector 43; and a fuel injection particle size changing means capable of changing particle size of the fuel to be injected from the injector 43.
