PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an authentication device for enabling a new registration candidate to independently register biological information and a biological information registration method to an authentication device. SOLUTION: This authentication device equipped with a management processor for enabling a manager to designate a registration candidate, and configured to register biological information includes: a key sending means for sending a key for starting the registration of biological information from the management processor to the registration candidate who registers biological information in the authentication device; a decision means for deciding whether or not the key sent by the key sending means has been used; and a registration means for, when it is decided that the key sent by the key sending means has been used by the decision means, registering the biological information of the person who has used the key in the authentication device by defining the person who has used the key as the registration candidate.
