PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid material discharge apparatus and method by which a liquid material is excellently discharged even when required the discharge of a small quantity of the liquid material. SOLUTION: In the droplet discharge method for discharging a part of the liquid material in a liquid chamber in a state of droplets by moving an extrusion member forth at high speed, the liquid material discharge apparatus is used which includes: the extrusion member which has the liquid chamber having a discharge port for discharging the liquid material, a plunger having narrower width than that of the liquid chamber, and the abutting part, wherein the tip of plunger moves back and forth in the liquid chamber; and a collision member which is disposed adjacent to the extrusion member the opposite side of the plunger, and has a collision part opposed to the piston and the abutting part. In the method, the liquid material is discharged by allowing the collision part to collide with the abutting part so as to move the extrusion member forth at high speed.
