<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sound emitting and collecting apparatus capable of emitting and collecting sounds corresponding to the number of persons using the device by changing the shape of the sound emitting and collecting apparatus. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The sound emitting and collecting apparatus 1 has a configuration in which four units 11-14 are coupled by hinges 51-53. On the round inner circumferential surface consisting of the four units 11-14, elements 50A-50L serving for both sound emission and collection are disposed along the circumferential surface. The unit 11 is coupled to the unit 12 by the hinge 51 so that the top surfaces of the units can abut, the unit 12 is coupled to the unit 13 by the hinge 52 so that the bottom surfaces of the units can abut, and the unit 13 is coupled to the unit 14 by the hinge 53 so that the top surfaces of the units can abut. In the sound emitting and collecting apparatus 1, the rotations of the hinges 51-53 enable the outer-dimensional inner circumferential surface to deform in a circle, a semicircle or a 1/4-circle when viewed from the top surface side.
