In a sodium cooled nuclear reactor, the rate of coolant flow through the fuel is measured by Venturi tubes. The fuel tubes 11, 12 are cooled by a flow of liquid sodium which is measured by the Venturi tubes, 13, 14. The pressure measuring tubes 19, 20 from 13, 14, lead into the sodium level indicators 26, 27 the readings from which are a measure of Venturi flow. The sodium level, 42 inside the tank 22, housing the indicators 26, 27 is maintained constant by adjustment of the argon gas pressure, in the upper part of 22, in response to the level sensor, 28.</p> |
