<p>Intermediate pieces are used which have a gradual coefficient of expansion. The junction is bridged by a thin-walled tube of glass having a higher softening point than the two glass parts to be joined. The tube, which is inserted into the outer ends of the parts, has slip-on rings made of the intermediate glasses, and the assembly is fused together.</p> |
