摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical wavelength division multiplexing circuit which compensates a minute temperature change in a transmitting central wavelength residing in an athermal AWG (array waveguide grating), has an excellent transmitting central wavelength accuracy in all usable temperature range or a comparatively wide usable temperature range. SOLUTION: The optical wavelength division multiplexing circuit includes: an array wavelength diffraction grating; a primary mode photoexcitation mechanism; and a multimode waveguide which is connected to the primary mode photoexcitation mechanism, transmits at least fundamental mode light and primary mode light, and is connected to a first slab waveguide directly or via a taper waveguide. A part or the whole of temperature dependency residing in a transmitting wavelength of the array waveguide diffraction grating is compensated by temperature variation in the synthesized optical field of the fundamental mode light and the primary mode light at the connection part to the first slab waveguide of the multimode waveguide or the taper waveguide.
