PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toner which efficiently absorbs irradiation energy and achieves rapid heat fixing, and an energy-saving practical image forming apparatus using the same. SOLUTION: The toner includes a capsule comprising a core material and a first shell (or coating shell) material coating the core material. The core material is a solution comprising water, urea and a solvent which dissolves or swells a resin constituting the toner, and when the toner is fixed, the solution generates heat upon irradiation with microwaves and is allowed to elute from the shell to fix the toner on a recording medium.
