PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper sheet processor, which determines authenticity with high accuracy even when an environment changes. SOLUTION: The paper sheet processor includes: a sensor 7 which detects insertion of a paper sheet; light emitting parts 80a and 81b which emit light to the paper sheet; a light receiving part 81a which receives light from a conveying path; a black correction part 233 which sets a reference value to the lowest brightness when receiving light from the conveying path by the light receiving part 81a while the emission of light in the light emitting part is canceled; and an authenticity determination processing part 230 which compares a plurality of pixel data obtained by emitting light to the paper sheet moving in the conveying path by the light emitting part and converting the light received by the light receiving part so as to include color information having brightness and have a predetermined size as 1 unit with reference pixel data for an authentic paper sheet based on the reference value set by the black correction part 233 to determine the authenticity. The black correction part 233 configures setting of the reference value, every time the paper sheet is inserted, during the period between when the sensor 7 detects insertion of the paper sheet and when the processing party 230 determines the authenticity.
