PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that time and effort are required for adjusting the volume of a sound output from a built-in speaker, in a conventional camera. SOLUTION: In an imaging device, when automatic volume setting is selected, a CPU 32 outputs an in-focus sound, a shutter sound, a warning sound, a background sound, a reproducing sound, etc. from a speaker 41 or a buzzer 42 at low volume, when an eye sensor 10 detects that the face, finger, etc. of a photographer looking through an optical finder 8 approach an eyepiece 8a and outputs the sounds from the speaker 41 or the buzzer 42 at high volume, when the eye sensor 10 does not detect that the body of the photographer approaches the eyepiece 8a.
