<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a two-stage rotary expander improved so that appropriate differential pressure acts on a second vane. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A two-stage rotary expander 200 includes a first cylinder 205, a first piston 204, a second cylinder 210, a second piston 209, a shaft 203 to which the first piston 204 and the second piston 209 are attached, a first vane 206 for partitioning a space between the first cylinder 205 and the first piston 204 into a first intake space and a first delivery space, a second vane 211 for partitioning a space between the second cylinder 210 and the second piston 209 into a second intake space and a second delivery space, and a middle plate 208 for separating the first cylinder 205 and the second cylinder 210. An average position of a contact E4 between the second vane 211 and the second piston 209 is offset toward the second delivery space side than a center line L4 with respect to width direction WD of the second vane 211.
