PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrodeposition type display device continuing maintaining an image for a long time. SOLUTION: The display device wherein electroplating using an electrolyte solution is used for controlling light has at least first, second and third electrodes coming in contact with the electrolyte solution, and has a first voltage applying means applying a voltage higher than a threshold voltage having the magnitude of a limit by which a metal is not deposited on the first electrode between the first and second electrodes and a second voltage applying means applying a voltage equal to or lower than the threshold voltage between the first and third electrodes. The metal is deposited on the first electrode by voltage application of the first voltage applying means and the metal deposited on the first electrode is maintained by voltage application of the second voltage applying means.
