PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for accurately detecting a rotation angle by properly compensating an A phase signal and a B phase signal. SOLUTION: A rotor 7 is rotated and the sine-wave-shaped A-phase and B-phase signals of which the phases are shifted by 90°from each other are acquired by a sensor 11. By an angle computing unit 13a, the A-phase and B-phase signals are compensated so that the respective mean values thereof may be 0 and that the amplitudes thereof may be equal to each other, and based on the corrected A-phase and B-phase signals, the rotation angle of the rotor 7 is computed.
