<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a quenching pattern inspecting method for capable of reducing the effect of a change in the temperature of a measuring system on a vortex flow measuring value without bringing about the complication of the mechanism or algorithm in the measuring system in the inspection of a quenching pattern by the measurement of a vortex flow, suppressing the irregularity of the vortex flow measuring value, and enhancing measuring precision. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the inspecting method for presetting a tolerance zone 41 on an X-Y plane 40 and judging the quality of the quenching pattern based on whether the measuring point related to an inspection region is present in the tolerance zone 41, a reference part simulating an inspection target part with respect to at least material quality and the filling ratio and surface properties to a vortex flow sensor is used, and the correlation between the change in the value of either one of the X-value and Y-value related to the reference part accompanying a temperature change with the elapse of time and a change in the change quantity to the reference values of the respective X- and Y-values related to a predetermined inspection target part is preliminarily calculated.
