PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for truing a grinding wheel capable of keeping form accuracy of a formed truer for a long time after finish-truing is done by the formed truer and capable of improving a service life of the formed truer. SOLUTION: The method for truing the grinding wheel 43 includes a roughening step of rough-truing the grinding wheel 43 by non-formed truers 57 and 58 comprising a single stone, a plurality of stones or a thin blade, and a finishing step of finish-truing the grinding wheel 43 after rough truing by the formed truer 56a.
