The spacer fabric has two flat fabric layers (1,2) made of plastic threads and a pile layer (3) made of spacer threads (4). The conducting threads form electrical conducting surfaces (6,6'), which have multiple areas formed by laying the conducting thread. The width of the area changes in knitting direction, to form an electrical conducting surface. An independent claim is provided for a method for manufacturing a spacer fabric.
