<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a time lag in timing of locking by a pair of lock teeth from occurring. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A seat reclining device for a vehicle includes a machine casing 5, a lid body 7 having an internally-toothed gear 7a, a pair of lock teeth 10 having an externally-toothed gear 10d capable of freely oscillating along the arcuate track, a pair of shaft parts 11 forming the guide face on the center side of the arcuate track, first/second guide parts 12A, 12B forming the guide face on the outer peripheral side, a cam 9 having pressing parts 9f for pressing the lock teeth 10 and supported freely movably in a direction of a radius connecting the pressing parts 9f with each other, and a pair of compression springs 19 provided between the cam 9 and the lid body 7 so as to bias the cam 9 in a locking direction. One end 19a of each compression spring is respectively hooked at each diagonal position of the cam 9 while the other end 19b is hooked on the side face of the second guide part 12B. One compression spring 19 covers the pressing part 9f on the other side of the cam 9 and the lock tooth 10 on one side, which mutually occupy the diagonal position with respect to the axial center of the cam, while the other compression spring 19 covers the pressing part 9f on one side of the cam 9 and the lock tooth 10 on the other side.
