PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal aligning agent in which the voltage retention rate does not drop even if heat stress is impressed for a long time period and which can give a liquid crystal aligning membrane provided with a high heat-resistance property, and a liquid crystal display element in which the display quality does not degrade even if it is driven for a long time period. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal aligning agent includes at least one kind of polymer äat least in one part in the molecule, it has a structure represented by a formula (A)} selected from a group comprising a polyamic acid and polyimide.
