<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scroll type fluid machine having improved efficiency by effectively preventing the rollover of a movable scroll while easily securing the durability and accuracy of a rotation preventing mechanism for the movable scroll. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The scroll type fluid machine 1 includes a rotating shaft 20 connected to the movable scroll so that the revolving motion of the movable scroll 22 on a frame 38 relative to a fixed scroll 24 is imparted thereto, and the rotation preventing mechanism 44 for preventing the rotation of the movable scroll without disturbing the revolving motion. The rotation preventing mechanism consists of a pin 46 supported on the side of the movable scroll and protruded to the side of the frame, and a hole 48 into which the pin is loosely fitted on the side of the frame. A root portion 46a of the pin which an opening edge 48a of the hole contacts is located on the rotating shaft in an almost the same plane 54 as a gravity center 52 of the movable scroll in the radial direction.
