<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication system that facilitates dynamic addition of a communication device in a network arrangement in which a master device transmits a communication indication and a slave device transmits a response according to the communication indication without damaging the arrangement, and to provide a communication device therefor. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A power control device 30 monitors communication of an engine control device 20 and a sensor unit 40. The power control device 30 communicates with the sensor unit 40 acting as a slave node when communication is performed, and as a master node when communication is not performed and the control device 30 acts as a master node when communication is not performed. When a trigger signal changes from off to on, transmission of a communication indication from the engine control device 20 to the sensor unit 40 may be queued for a predetermined period of time. Otherwise after it is determined that communication is not performed between the engine control device 20 and the sensor unit 40, the power control device 30 may perform communication with the sensor unit 40 only until the predetermined time passes.
