<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an auxiliary of film formation, which exhibits excellent safety from the view point of VOC restriction and stench, and is friendly to the environment. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The auxiliary of the film formation contains an aliphatic saturated carboxylic acid monoester represented by general formula (I) (wherein, AO is a 2-3C oxyalkylene group; n is an integer of 1-3; when n is 1, R<SP>1</SP>is an n-butyl group or an isobutyl group, and R<SP>2</SP>is a 7-8C branched alkyl group; and when n is 2 or 3, R<SP>1</SP>is a 3-4C alkyl group and R<SP>2</SP>is a 6-9C branched alkyl group).
