The method involves controllably moving rollers e.g. pressure roller (12) and thrust roller (14), to preset adjusting positions relative to a machine frame (10) of a rotary printing press by adjusting drives. A mathemetical model is provided by thermal expansion of the machine frame depending on rolling positions of the rollers. Temperature at a set of measuring points of the machine frame is measured by temperature sensors (26), and the adjusting positions of the rollers are corrected depending on the mathemetical model, which is a linear model.
