Disclosed is an ion generator (30) comprising a discharge electrode (2) and an induction electrode (1).  The discharge electrode (2) has a needle-like tip.  The induction electrode (1) has a circular through hole (1a).  The tip of the discharge electrode (2) passes through the through hole (1a) of the induction electrode (1) and projects beyond an upper surface (1c) of the induction electrode (1).  As a result, the ion generator can have an improved ion discharge efficiency.
