摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a more proper process capable of performing automatic navigation for a video image shot on a display apparatus, especially on a compact display apparatus.

SOLUTION: A video image navigation method utilizes a computer. The method allows navigation of a video image on a display apparatus with a screen of limited size but larger than a key frame for a video image segmented in a video image shot through the use of a video image browser displaying the key frame. While maintaining time sequence of the video image shot, the video image shot is clustered by similarity. While suppressing the route length of a tree to the minimum, a hierarchically organized navigation tree is formed for a cluster of video image shot.
