<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing carbon fibers small in the variation of impurity concentration, excellent in properties to be filled and dispersed in a resin etc., and capable of enhancing electrical conductivity and thermal conductivity of a resin etc., and exhibiting high production efficiency (increase in weight) of the carbon fiber per catalyst mass and small temperature dependency of the production efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: The method for producing carbon fibers includes a process of obtaining a catalyst by dissolving or dispersing [I] a compound containing a Co element, [II] a compound containing at least one element selected from the group consisting of Ti, V, Cr and Mn, and [III] a compound containing at least one element selected from the group consisting of W and Mo, in a solvent, and then impregnating the solution or dispersion into a powdery or granular carrier; and a process of bringing the catalyst into contact with a carbon source in a gas phase. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
