PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately detect erroneous insertion of an image forming unit, without providing a new sensor. SOLUTION: When the power source is turned on, a toner image for test is formed on a photosensitive drum 34 corresponding to each color. When the toner image for test is transferred to a conveyor belt 32, a current value and a voltage value fed back through toner at that time are detected. Transfer load resistance R is calculated from the detected current value and the voltage value. Transfer load resistance during the transfer is calculated periodically, and the maximum values of the transfer load resistance are compared, among the mutual colors, to find an arrangement of image forming units from large/small relation among those maximum values. When an arrangement is found, it is compared with a regular arrangement. When it is determined that the found arrangement is different from the regular arrangement, it is determined that misinsertion has occurred; and error is reported. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
