<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color image processing apparatus capable of removing a base without causing increase and processing delay of a memory. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The color image processing apparatus is provided with: an image reading part which reads a document image per line for every color component; a line gap correction part which corrects positional shift for every color component to be generated in read document image data by every color component by line delay processing; and a base removal part which performs base removal processing to the document image data to which line gap correction is performed, and includes a base density acquisition part which calculates average density values for every color component to the document image data held for the line delay processing to acquire the calculated average density values as base density when a line gap of the head line is corrected, wherein the base removal part subtracts the calculated base density from a density value of the color image data to perform the base removal processing for every color component.
