<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of transmitting a document image where a manager understands the presence of the data when transmitting paper medium information to the outside as electronic data. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The method of transmitting the document image includes the steps of allowing an image communication device to not only read the document image but also code the read image for storage (step 142), analyzing QR code displayed on the document image (step 144), transmitting by an electronic mail the read image and presence information of the transmitting address while setting a mail address of the manager stored in the QR code as a destination (step 152), determining whether or not the mail to the effect that transmission is authorized is returned from the manager (step 154), and transmitting or discarding the image read using the presence information of the transmitting address as a destination according to the determination of the determining steps (steps 156 and 162).
