<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for measuring the quantity of swimming, which correctly measures the quantity of swimming regardless of a peripheral environment, and also allows a swimmer to easily confirm a measurement result in water. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The device 1 for measuring the quantity of swimming includes: a motion detecting means 7 for outputting a signal corresponding to the motion of a swimmer; an operation switch 5 for performing an operation and setting, etc.; a display panel 3; and also a control-calculation part 6 for performing various kinds of control and calculation. The control-calculation part 6 is connected to the motion detecting means 7, the operation switch 5 and the display panel 3. The device 1 recognizes a swimming state during the output of a regular signal from the motion detecting means 7, and determines the turns of the swimmer when the swimming state is restarted within a prescribed time after the interruption of the swimming state.
