<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thread tension-adjusting mechanism for a sewing machine which requires a reduced space and has a reduced size. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The thread tension-adjusting mechanism includes: a plurality of thread tension springs 20 provided on the same support shaft 2; a plurality of cam members 40 fixedly supported at the same camshaft 4 and adjusting thread tension of the thread tension springs; a plurality of transmission members 50 each having an input portion 51 reciprocating according to the displacement of a cam portion 41 of the cam member, and an output portion 52 reciprocating according to the movement amount of the input portion; and a plurality of abutment members 22 each rotatable together with the support shaft, movable along the support shaft, and compressing a pressing spring 23 of the thread tension spring according to the movement amount of an output portion. The abutment member includes an abutment surface 81 abutting on the output portion of the transmission member and compressing the pressing spring, and a release portion 82 having a level different from the abutment surface in a direction in which the pressing spring is elongated, and the abutment surfaces and the release portions of the abutment members are simultaneously switched in position, according to the rotational operation of the support shaft.
