<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To machine a work while applying an alternating current waveform even when the work is a semiconductor. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An electric discharge machining device is provided with a diode D in which anode is connected to an electrode E, and cathode is connected to a terminal at a work W side of an AC power source G. When a negative voltage is applied to the work W and a positive voltage is applied to the electrode E, by flowing a current through the diode D, a shot key barrier bulkhead formed on an interface of the work W, i.e., the semiconductor and a surface plate of a metal is by-passed.
