PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an external storage device that can store a plurality of boot programs and select a boot program matching a specification. SOLUTION: The external storage device 1, which stores in a storage part a plurality of automatic execution scripts each for starting a predetermined program in an information processing apparatus 2 when recognizing a connection to the information processing apparatus 2, includes a selector switch part 111 for selecting one from the plurality of automatic execution scripts, an automatic execution target switching control part for acquiring at a predetermined timing the automatic execution script selected by the selector switch part from the plurality of stored automatic execution scripts, and a communication control part for sending the automatic execution script acquired by the automatic execution target switching control part to the information processing apparatus 2.
