<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem with a conventional reduction gear that the reduction gear is not driven smoothly since a machining error on the wheel side is large. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In a worm 2, two worm members 9, 10 are non-rotatably and axially movably attached to a rotatable shaft 8, the gap H between the two worm members 9, 10 is increased over the diameter of a roller pin, and the worm grooves 11, 12 of the two worm members 9, 10 are formed of the worm groove 11 of one worm member 9 in such a manner that the roller pin abuts on one of both side surfaces thereof, and the worm groove 12 of the other worm member 10 in such a manner that the roller pin in the engaged state abuts on the other of both side surfaces thereof. A positioning means for positioning the two worm members 9, 10 to an initial position and a biasing means for biasing the two worm members to a positioning means are installed on the shaft 8 side. Due to the machining error on the wheel side, even if the roller pin strongly presses side surfaces of the worm grooves 11, 12, both the worm members 9, 10 are moved instantaneously in the pressing direction, and frictional resistance is not increased.
