摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel injection valve of an internal combustion engine which changes the flowing mode of fuel through driving a control valve by a drive mechanism and thereby open an injection valve through the movement of an on-off valve to swiftly open an injection hole. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The fuel injection valve allows the flow of fuel into a first discharge passage 61 from a first control valve chamber 91 immediately after the control valve 30 moves from a shutoff position to a flow position as the power is distributed to an actuator 41 while the flow of fuel from the first control valve chamber 91 to a second control valve chamber 92 is blocked. Then a sufficient amount of high pressure fuel is retained in a supplementary chamber 95 which is a space at the chip end side of the control valve 30 because the supplementary chamber 95 and a discharge stop 64 are installed between the first control valve chamber 91 and the first discharge passage 61. By this, the control valve 30 is driven through a force based on the suction force and a force based on the pressure difference of the actuator 41 because a pressure larger than the pressure applied to an armature 34 is applied to a first valve part 31 of the control valve 30.
