<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problems: a commercially available bait box to put a ground bait becomes light as the ground bait runs short and, when the bait is to be scooped up with a ground bait dipper, moves unless it is pressed down by hand and foot, which results in the scooping being difficult; and the bait box that has become light is sometimes blown away to the sea by a gust. Ž<P>SOLUTION: To make the bait box heavy in use and light upon packing up, the bait box is so devised as to be composed of a double of an outside bag 1 enabling attachment and removal of a weight and an inside bucket 2 for putting the ground bait. (1) For the operation, water or seawater 8 as a weight is put in the outside bag 1 to the designated line, a foldable support plate 4 on the bottom of the inside bucket 2 is extended/raised to a height of the designated line, and the bucket 2 is put in the outside bag 1 and fixed with a rubber band 6. This makes the bait box with a weight whose inside and outside are integrated. (2) Upon packing up the water or seawater 8 used as the weight is discarded, the support plate 4 of the inside bucket is folded low, and the inside bucket is held in the outside bag 1 from which the weight is discarded, which makes a light bait box.
