<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a check processor which prevents false recognition of a magnetic ink character caused by skew conveyance of a check. <P>SOLUTION: A skew conveyance decision part of a control part of the check processor calculates a position of a lower edge of the check from partial read image information D1 obtained by cutting out a lower end portion in front side read image information D of a front side contact image scanner by a predetermined width in a conveyance direction, and decides whether or not the lower edge of the check is obliquely conveyed at an angle exceeding an allowable skew angle (ST5). When it is decided that the lower edge is obliquely conveyed, an invalidation command is transmitted to a higher-level computer system (ST8), and magnetic character recognition based on information on reading the magnetic ink character is invalidated. Thereby, the false recognition of the magnetic ink character due to skew conveyance can be avoided. The check decided to be obliquely conveyed is discharged to a second discharge pocket by a changeover lever (ST13, 14, 11, 12). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
