PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a light metal member from a melt at low cost. SOLUTION: In the method for manufacturing the light metal member from a melt, a molten light metal (M), such as Al alloy, is supplied to a twin roll casting machine (1) having casting cavities (C) on the outer peripheral faces (F) of casting rolls (11, 12), which are set opposite to each other; a lumpy material having a fine structure due to rapid cooling and solidification is successively cast according to rotation of casting rolls; and the light metal member of the lumpy material produced from the melt is manufactured.
