<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide cellulose ester films useful for liquid crystal display devices, high in moisture stability of retardation in the film thickness direction and excellent in wet heat durability of retardation and dimensional change in the film thickness direction. <P>SOLUTION: The cellulose ester film includes a cellulose ester resin and a polymer X having a weight-average molecular weight of 500-100,000, wherein the polymer X includes at least one monomer unit comprising a phenyl group having 1-4 substituents at ortho or meta position and the polymer X satisfies following formula (1) and formula (2). 30%≤A≤100% formula (1). (A indicates the polymerization ratio of a monomer in the polymer X, whose homopolymer has a negative birefringence, when the monomer is polymerized alone). 10%≤B≤100% formula (2).
