<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide multi-purpose use, allow multi-channel recording and reproduction for high-speed recording, and record information so as to be adapted to a non-multi-channel device. Ž<P>SOLUTION: When data is recorded in a predetermined disk by a recording device provided with two optical pickups, a block B1 is divided into data D1-1 and data D2-1. The data D1-1 is written by a first optical pickup and the data D2-1 is written in a second optical pickup. The second optical pickup writes data D1-2 of a block B2 following writing the data D2-1. During the successive writing operation, the first optical pickup performs seek operation after writing the data D1-1 and writes the data D2-1.
