<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a feeder of a recording material capable of automatically switching the holding force of the recording material in correspondence with the number of the recording materials. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The feeder of the recording material includes: a roller 36 for feeding to give feeding force by holding the recording material set on a placing surface 7 between itself and a hopper 30 when the hopper 30 moving between each of positions for rising and lowering is at the rising position; an edge guide 31 provided against the placing surface 7 and automatically moved by prescribed force by making contact with a side edge of the recording material when the hopper is at the lowering position; and a presser member 43 to hold the recording material set on the placing surface 7 with prescribed pressurizing force by making contact with it. A magnet 51 and a magnetic member 50 are positioned against each other on both surface sides with the recording material set on the placing surface between themselves and an interval between the magnet and the magnetic member is automatically changed in correspondence with the number of the recording materials when the hopper is at least the lowering position.
