<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silencing member capable of preventing columnar resonance, and facilitating installation work to a tire. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An annular silencing member 30 for preventing columnar resonance is formed continuously on the total circumference by elastic material, and has a plurality of trough portions 31 and projecting portion 32 disposed alternately in a circumferential direction. The projecting portion 32 has a top portion 32a and a pair of bottom portions 32b, extending from both sides of the top portion and ranging to the trough portions 31. When the silencing member 30 is in a natural state, an inscribed circle diameter of the trough portion 31 is smaller than the outside diameter of a rim 12. A clearance between the top portions 32a opposing in a the radial direction is shorter than the value obtained, by adding half the difference between an insider diameter of a tread portion 21 and an inside diameter of a bead portion 22 of a tire 20 to the inside diameter of the bead portion 22 of the tire 20. A clearance between the top portion 32a and the trough portion 31 opposing in the radial direction is shorter than the inside diameter of the bead portion 22 of the tire 20.
