RETARDATION FILM, POLARIZING PLATE AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retardation film having an optical anisotropic layer comprising a liquid crystal.

SOLUTION: The retardation film includes: a cellulose ester film; an optical anisotropic layer provided on one surface thereon, wherein rod-like liquid crystal molecules are vertically aligned and fixed; and a back surface layer provided on the other surface thereon. In the retardation film: the cellulose ester film satisfies both of the following conditions (A1) and (A2); the solvent content is ≤0.01 mass%; and the film has an elastic modulus CE1 of 1.5 to 2.5 kN/mm2in a film forming direction and an elastic modulus CE2 of 1.8 to 3.5 kN/mm2in a transverse direction at 23°C and 55% RH.
