PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an commercial method for producing DOPOBQ which is a precursor of a phosphorus-based biphenol monomer, which can be suitably used for producing the precursor improved in solubility and reactivity at a reduced material cost. SOLUTION: There is provided a method for synthesizing a phosphorus-based compound having a structure represented by formula 1 by using an organic cyclic phosphorus compound, a ketone-based compound, phenol, and an acid catalyst.
