PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic device in which power saving is attained by reducing power consumption of a display without reducing display performance of the display, by limiting a lighting period of time, while the display is not operated, in accordance with current consumption due to lighting of the display. SOLUTION: The present invention relates to the electronic device in which a display is lighted off after the lapse of a predetermined time in a non-operation state while the display is lighted on, comprising: a storage means for storing a lighting time period during no operation of the display and a limitation of the lighting time period in accordance with luminance of the display; a determining means (S209) for determining whether the stored lighting time period is within a range of the limitation on the basis of the luminance of the display; a setting means (S213) for changing the lighting time period within the range of the limitation and storing it in the storage means in the case where it is determined that the stored lighting time period is not within the range of the limitation; and a display control means (S221) for lighting off the display if the state of no operation is continued for the lighting period of time stored in the storage means after lighting of the display is started.
