The invention relates to a storage device (1) for binding wire of a cording machine for the production of cellulose, said device comprising a drive (3) at the region feeding into the storage device and another drive (7) at the region discharging from the storage device. The storage device (1) according to the invention and the two drives (3, 7) enable the entire length of wire necessary for a binding process to be intermediately stored, and the wire to be then pulled off the store in order to carry out the binding process. In this way, a dynamic storage space is created for the binding wire in the storage device (1).
